Stratford-upon-Avon has been named as one of the best towns in the UK.
More than 9,000 Which? members rated the inland towns and villages they’d visited in the past year, with the top spots going to Wells in Somerset and Avebury in Wiltshire. They were followed by other towns in every corner of the UK – from Scotland to Dorset, North Wales to the Lake District.
Stratford-upon-Avon came in at 45 in the Which? list, ahead of the picturesque Cotswold towns of Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water.
Readers rated the towns and villages for their attractions, scenery, peace and quiet and food and drink.
The Warwickshire market town achieved 73% satisfaction rate, scoring five stars in the tourist attractions category. It scored four stars for food and drink, scenery and shopping and three for attractiveness.
Sheldon Bosley Knight’s residential sales manager for Stratford-upon-Avon, Noel Rowley said: “We love Stratford and so we are not surprised it is in this list.
“It’s got great shops, lots of history, culture and a fantastic atmosphere.
“Stratford also has a wide variety of housing styles – from apartments to mansions and everything in between – and with great schools, amenities and connections to other parts of the country, it is a very desirable place to live.
