Dashing through the snow….

Anyone in Leamington Spa on Sunday, December 15 will be forgiven for thinking they are seeing double, triple or even multiples….. of Father Christmases!

But no, your eyes will not be deceiving you, rather you will be witnessing the annual Myton Hospice Santa Dash.

This popular event will see hundreds of people dressed head to mistle-toe like Father Christmas, or in other suitably festive clothing, running, jogging or walking around the 5K course in Victoria Park.

Among those taking part will be husband and wife duo, Andrew and Katie James, Norma Woodward and Sophie Higginson, all from Sheldon Bosley Knight’s Leamington offices.

All four have different personal reasons for joining in the fun, but all will be remembering loved ones who were cared for by the wonderful nurses at Myton Hospice whilst hoping to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Just £56 covers the cost of two hours’ specialist nursing care, £150 will fund five children’s bereavement counselling sessions to help a young person who is facing thei first Christmas without a loved one and £360 will fund a Myton at Home service for one day, enabling patients to be in the comfort of their own home at Christmas.

Andrew said: “Katie and I are both supporters of the hospice movement and we appreciate its amazing work and wanted to do our bit to support our local hospice this Christmas.”

Sophie said: “My Mum was unfortunately diagnosed with brain cancer in July and sadly passed away in October.

“The hospice care she received was absolutely outstanding, enabling my sister and me to look after her at home whilst avoiding going into hospital. I will never forget their kindness and consistent support and for this I’m forever indebted.”

Norma will be aided at the event by her two pugs. She said: “I’m doing the Santa Dash with my pugs who will be dressed as reindeers so if you can donate they and I will be very grateful!”

As well as our team and the pugs, the great man himself may even make an appearance to congratulate all those who take part and cross the finish line.

Please visit the fundraising page if you would like to make a donation.
