Meet the team – Katie Taylor

Meet Katie Taylor, Sheldon Bosley Knight’s commercial property manager. With nearly 10 years working in the industry, she has brought a wealth of experience and skills to the team. When she’s not busy covering all aspects of her varied role, she enjoys spending time on her allotment with her husband and two cocker spaniels.

What is your SBK job title and where are you based?

I’m commercial property manager based in Stratford-upon-Avon but I regularly spend time in other areas such as Evesham and Shipston-on-Stour.

What is your role and what does your job entail?

Every day is different in property management as my role varies so much, sometimes even depending on the weather! However, at the core of each job regardless of how big or small will be our team looking to take the best action for our clients.

What did you do before this job?

I previously worked for a small investment company assisting in the management of their assets, these were residential and commercial.

How did you get into the property industry?

I first started working in the property industry nine years ago for a large national company based in Birmingham city centre, which I thoroughly enjoyed! I worked in a few departments which gave me the opportunity to see what role suited me best and the property management side of the business just always worked well for me.

What attracted you to working for Sheldon Bosley Knight?

Initially the role really drew me in as it included all the skills I’ve built up over the past nine years. I enjoy having my own portfolio to manage, and I’ve had the chance to build relationships with my clients and help them make the most of their assets. During the application process and while delving into Sheldon Bosley Knight’s Linkedin, website and social media, I really resonated with its work ethic and core values. It became clear to me Sheldon Bosley Knight embodied the ideals and principles I believe are important, making it an ideal match for my professional career going forward.

What’s the best bit about your job?

Easy question – Sheldon Bosley Knight! I really enjoy coming to work, seeing my colleagues, working in stunning locations and continually receiving further training.

What qualifications or training do you need to do this job?

Experience is key in this role as it’s so varied. I manage everything from service charge budgets, planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, rent reviews, lease renewals and client reports which have all taken me time to learn and perfect.

What motivates you to work hard?

I would really like to continually improve myself and achieve my goals. I’m also motivated by the impact my work can have, whether it’s contributing to a team’s success, making a positive difference to my client, or achieving specific outcomes.

What are your career goals?

My short term goal is to perfect my current role as I am still relatively new to Sheldon Bosley Knight.

What do you do when you are not at work?

I spend most of my time at the moment with my two cocker spaniels, Daisy and Poppy. They are super active which means I’m in the park twice a day! I also have an allotment which my husband and I spend a lot of time in over the spring and summer, growing fruit, veg and flowers. If I am not In the park or the garden, I’ll absolutely be found in the pub with a G&T (especially if there’s some live music).

What is the best piece of career advice you have ever been given?

The best piece of career advice I’ve been given is to always prioritise learning and growth. Continuously look out for opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge.
