Market Harborough is a vibrant market town in Leicestershire, close to the border with Northamptonshire. Boasting a wide variety of housing styles, plenty of green space and good schools, it is a firm favourite with both young and old and those who love and enjoy all that a busy town has to offer. It also has lovely parks, great shopping and plenty of entertainment options not to mention some beautiful countryside right on the doorstep.

Easy to get to, Market Harborough has accessible road and rail routes to nearby Leicester to the north, Corby to the east, Lutterworth to the west and Kettering and Northampton further south and the towns and villages in between. It is close to the M1 and A6 allowing access to nearby towns and cities and there are regular bus services in and around the town. Its railway station is on the Midland Mainline with trains to Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham and Leicester as well as further afield to London St Pancras.

The town has a selection of primary schools to choose from and for older children there is either Welland Park Academy or Robert Smyth Academy in the town. They complement those state and private schools in nearby Leicester, Northampton and Coventry.

Whether you are into hockey, football, racquet sports, cricket, rugby, golf running or athletics Market Harborough is the place to be. The Squash and Racketball Club is popular as is the Market Harborough Cricket Club and Golf Club. There is also a leisure centre in town with a swimming pool, gym and sauna and there are two skateparks.

Market Harborough is a musical town with its own orchestra and The Harborough Collective, a professional classical ensemble. The town also has its own brass band, The Harborough Band, formed in 1897 as well as the Market Harborough Choral Society, chamber choir, The Harborough Singers as well as the Dolly Mixtures and the 90-strong choir of the Great Bowden Recital Trust. The town’s Musical Theatre has been active since 1948 and the theatre is home to Parsnips Youth Theatre and Octagon films. Live music gigs are common in the town and take place at venues and pubs including the Waterfront and Enigma, which holds quiz nights and tribute bands as well as serving good food. As well as theatre, the town boast an art club and hosts the Arts Fresco, a free street theatre festival in September.

As well as some beautiful parks and gardens, the Harborough Museum is popular and includes the largest collection of British Iron Age coins ever found. Other notable attractions are the Old Grammar School, St Dionysius Church, the Old Town Hall and The Square. Just outside the town are the Foxton Locks, a series of 10 canal locks consisting of two staircases each of five locks on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal.

This pretty town also benefits from a wide variety of housing styles which makes it a desirable place to live. Whether you are after a compact centre of town apartment, a new build, terrace or spacious family home on a tree-lined street, there is something to suit every taste and pocket.
