Taking steps to beat pancreatic cancer

One of Sheldon Bosley Knight’s team has been taking steps to raise money for a cancer charity.

Associate director and head of our planning and architecture department, Natasha Blackmore da Silva, took part in the Big Step Forward on Saturday, July 13.

The event, in aid of Pancreatic Cancer UK, saw more than 1,200 people across the UK undertake a walk of their choice, raising a staggering £182,718 in the process.

Alongside her faithful companion Chester, Natasha’s route took her along the Greenway in Stratford-upon-Avon. She completed the five miles in just under two hours, finishing at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Natasha said: “It was a lovely day and the walk went really well. Chester enjoyed it too and I met quite a few people on the route who I chatted to about what I was doing and why.

“Along the way I got updates from others around the country who were also taking part and read all the encouraging messages, so it didn’t feel as though I was on my own.

“Every penny raised will be used to fund vital research to hopefully enable earlier detection of the disease, or the support line which will benefit those who have been diagnosed and need pastoral support.”

This is the second fundraiser Natasha has done this year for a cancer charity. In March she abseiled down the side of Coventry Cathedral in aid of Myton Hospice.
